Personal Ponies is a non-profit organization composed of volunteers who strive to spread miles of smiles to faces of differently able children.  We provide small, well-mannered U.K. Shetland ponies to families, and various organizations,  who have or work with differently able children, free of charge.  The Personal Ponies Organization, founded in 1986 by Marianne Alexander, has grown tremendously and is now represented in almost every state in the nation.

          Louisiana & Texas became actively involved in the Personal Ponies Organization in early 1997, when a local television station aired footage of Marianne Alexander sharing her belief that the life of a child with disabilities can be immeasurably enriched by having a small pony to love and care for.  Her unique idea combined with her love for special kids and magical ponies became contagious!   The program has since grown throughout Louisiana & Texas with multiple volunteers and families participating in various ways to promote the program, share the ponies, and spread miles of smiles to faces of differently able children.  To date, we have placed more than 130 ponies with caring families with differently able children, and many Personal Ponies directors, across the United States from sea to shining sea!!
